Voter Registration
Voter registration is easy in Oregon through the “Motor Voter” registration process. When residents apply for or renew their driver’s licenses with the Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles they are automatically registered to vote. Please note that to be able to vote in all elections individuals must choose a party affiliation (political party). Individuals who are Non-Affiliated Voters (NAVs) may not vote in primary elections, thus cannot vote to choose candidates for the general election (such as governor’s races, etc). This link will connect you to the Secretary of State’s election website where you can update your registration with the party affiliation of your choice.
Voting Process
In Clatsop County, your household will receive a Voter Information Pamphlet in the mail, usually about a week prior to receiving your actual ballot.
Not all counties in Oregon do a Voter Information Pamphlet for off-year elections, and Clatsop hasn’t always had them. Through the hard work of members of the Clatsop County Democratic Central Committee, Clatsop has been producing the pamphlets for off-year elections since 2019.
The Clatsop County Clerk’s Elections page will have all election dates and information on candidates and measures that are being filed for the upcoming election.
Check back in with this website during election season. As the election draws near, you will find the Clatsop County Democratic Central Committee’s candidate endorsements, candidate interviews, and volunteer opportunities.
Keep an eye on KMUN (Coast Community Radio 91.9 FM), as they will sometimes host interviews with candidates, or they may list other organizations’ candidate forums on their community calendar.
To send in your ballot, you may mail it in (no postage necessary), or you may drop it off at one of the many ballot drop-off locations throughout the county.
